1. What is the wallet password?
- Wallet password adds an extra layer to encrypt and protect your wallet, which is required for importing, transferring, staking, trading on CoinEx Wallet, and all operations related to your asset's security. Unlike mnemonic words or passphrases, it can be modified accordingly.
- CoinEx Wallet is a decentralized wallet, unlike storing user's data on the server which can be seen in the centralized wallet, you‘ll have full access to your own data offline stored on your devices. If you lost it, CoinEx Wallet is unable to find or reset it for you, you'll have the option to import the mnemonic words first and then reset it manually.
2. What should I do if I forget my wallet password?
- CoinEx Wallet is a decentralized wallet, to ensure the security of user assets, all user authentication information (such as wallet security password, mnemonics/private key, etc.) needs to be backed up and saved by yourself and is not stored in the centralized server. In other words, if the password is forgotten, CoinEx Wallet cannot retrieve it back for you.
- If you have forgotten your security password, but still remember the mnemonics / private key: you can delete the App, download and install it again, and import the mnemonics / private key to reset a new password for your wallet. Before deleting, please make sure the mnemonics / private key has been backed up and properly stored, the mnemonics / private key is the only credentials you have to control your assets.
- If you forget your mnemonics / private key, your password cannot be retrieved!
